It’s October and officially autumn looking at the weather so as I pack away my flip flops I find that my favourite winter boots could do with a reheal.
I have a choice of at least 5 shoe repairers in the 2 towns which I visit most regularly and have no strong preference amongst them, well until now. Armed with my beloved boots and a couple of belts which needed additional holes adding I head to the shops.
Timpson happened to be the first I came to, as I entered the shop I was greeted with a friendly hello. After a brief examination of my boots I was told that there was no point rehealing them as the soles were thin and the boots would soon be unwearable, furthermore as the soles were moulded to the boot he couldn’t resole them.
I left the shop disappointed with the news but not the service, for a quick buck he could have just rehealed the boots and in the short term I’d be non the wiser. His honesty has left me with a warm feeling of trust and through this experience Timpson is now my preferred repairers which I will use next time. Also I’m blogging about it so they have now received some free word of mouth advertising and we all know how powerful that is.
Oh, I nearly forgot to say that to put extra holes in the belts was free of charge but they recommend you put some money in their charity box which I obviously did.
