At a hotel restaurant we ordered a bottle of wine and when it arrived the waitress asked if we would like the wine to be poured or if would prefer to do this ourselves. We opted for the pour it ourselves option where upon the waitress put a label around the bottle which read ‘Do not pour’ as shown in the photo. This happened to be the perfect solution to our needs the details of which I won’t go into other than to say my glass gets topped up more frequently and therefore we only loosely ‘share’ a bottle which isn’t good for my liver or our relationship!
Good service is about being attentive but not over attentive and adjusting to the needs of the customer. I’m sure you all have your own examples of this, can any of them be a catalyst to improve service in your business?
If so I’ll drink to that!
