It wasn’t very long ago that none of us knew what ‘Black Friday’ was but now thanks to our American friends it’s become another date in the retail calendar. I’m not sure there were as many fights this year but retailers are definitely fighting for a share of our spend as we receive our last pay cheque before Christmas.
So how do you compete? As I’ve been bombarded with emails and information on the high street about all sorts of deals but the one which caught my eye was Fat Face, a clothing brand. They had posters in their windows saying ‘We’re not discounting, we’re donating’. They go on to say ’instead of Black Friday discounting we are donating up to £250,000 to your local charities, by shopping with us you are helping them.’
